Jr. NBA Winter Session

Wildcat Jr. NBA 2018
(For Ages 4 to 6 or JK-Grade 1) ONLY 30 SPOTS Born 2014+
Season Starts Wednesday February 13th, 2019

The Wildcats will be hosting the Winter session of the Jr. NBA program starting February 13th, 2019. Sessions will run on Wednesdays from 5:30pm to 6:15pm for 11 sessions. Dates for Winter 2019: Feb 13th, 20th, 27th, March 6th, 20th, 27th, April 3rd 10th, 17th, 24th, May 1st.
Starting in 2014, the Chatham-Kent Wildcats joined in a partnership with the NBA Canada called the Jr. NBA. The Wildcats were 1 of only 50 Basketball clubs across all of Canada selected to participate in this pilot project with NBA Canada.
The program has been created by Youth Sports Specialists and is compliant with Canadian Sport 4 Life as well is aligned with Canada Basketball’s Developmental Pathway.

The Jr. NBA program is for girls and boys between the ages of 4 and 6 who are keen on learning the essential basketball skills using a learner-focused curriculum and covers all the development of all FUNdamental Movement Skills (running, jumping, throwing, catching) and Basketball Skills (footwork, dribbling, passing, shooting) that are appropriate for the age level. The program focuses on maximum basketball touches to ensure every player gets a chance to handle the ball with exciting game based drills to allow the players experience to be the most enjoyable it can be.

Q.- How long is the program?
A. = It is a 11 session program, consisting of approximately 45 minute sessions.

Q. – How much is the cost?
A. = $120.00

Q. – What do we get for our $120.00?
A. = 11 sessions of instruction. Use of specially made baskets that lower to 4.5’. The children get to use and keep a size 5 light weight Rookie Gear basketball and will receive a Jr. NBA t-shirt.

Q. - How many children are in a session?
A. = The program has a maximum of 30 participants per session to allow maximum instructor time per child. Girls and boys sessions run separately and simultaneously in the large gym.

Starting October 30th, practices will take place on Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30pm-7pm at George P Vanier Elementary School.

U11- Atom Girls Tryouts!! Date Change

The second tryout date of October 11th is pushed off until October 18th. There is a school maintenance conflict.

Tryout Dates:

Tuesday October 9th – 5:30pm-7:30pm at Indian Creek
Tuesday October 16th – 5:30pm-7:30pm at Indian Creek
Thursday October 18th – 5:30pm-7:30pm at McNaughton Ave PS

Date change- Major Atom Boys Tryouts

The date for the first tryout has been moved from October 10th to October 15th. Same time, same gym!!

Tryouts are being held Tuesday October 9th from 5:30pm-7:30pm at The Wish Center on King Street! If you have a daughter in Grade 6 and wants to play basketball, this team is ready for you!!
